In the race to electrify transportation, the biggest wins often happen in places that have been overlooked, often because of prohibitive project costs. That’s exactly where Solaflect Energy and Autel Energy are focusing their efforts — planting flags for EV charging everywhere.

We sat down with Jason Keller, Director of West Coast Sales, and Rob Adams, COO of Solaflect, to talk about how a patented solar-tracking technology is being redeployed to complement the often-challenged grid-tied EV charging environment.

For Rob Adams, the story starts with over a decade of innovation. "Our patented design follows the sun, generating 40% more power than a fixed surface, like a rooftop" Rob explained. "For 13 years, we installed solar trackers across New England, powering homes, businesses, and schools".

Two years ago, Solaflect had what Rob calls a Eureka moment:
"We realized the next great challenge wasn’t just producing solar power — it was solving the gap between EV charging demand and supply. That’s how Apollo was born — an off-grid solar EV charging solution that produces plenty of power to keep drivers happy."

Jason Keller, who has been in the EV industry for over two decades, recently joined Solaflect to lead the West Coast rollout, with a focus spanning from the Bay Area, Northern California, to the Greater Los Angeles counties.
"Even with legislative headwinds the industry is facing right now, there’s untapped potential for filling the blanks in places that normally would not be attractive from a project scope and cost standpoint” Jason said. "Our goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to bring charging where it’s needed most, without costly construction and infrastructure upgrades."

Partnering with Autel Energy, Solaflect is now on a mission to plant those first charging "flags" in areas that need rapid EV charging deployment with 100% clean energy — pioneering sites that prove sustainable infrastructure can thrive without waiting for the grid to catch up.

Watch the video montage to hear Jason and Rob’s full conversation and see how Solaflect and Autel are redefining what it means to lead in EV charging: going first, going bold, and planting more flags.
